3 Colours’ painters prepared and painted the interior common areas of a block of multi-residential apartments in Ultimo. Although a prestige heritage building, the property was looking tired and outdated.
USING SCRUBTOUGH IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS
Due to the busy nature of the main foyer and corridors, with walls subjected to scuff and dirt marks, 3 Colours recommended using Scuffmaster ScrubTough water-based polyurethane paint.
Unlike latex paint, ScrubTough is resistant to wear and tear such as kick marks and scuffs caused by cleaning, so walls are kept looking their best. ScrubTough is ideal for use in high traffic and communal areas in hotels and apartments.
To start the job, the painters prepared the walls, corridors and ceilings by sanding uneven surfaces and filling holes to ensure a smooth finish. ScrubTough in ‘Snow Season’ was used on the corridor and foyer walls to lighten up the area, with a contrasting darker colour ‘Simone Weil’ used under the picture rails. The timber work, including picture rails and skirting boards, was painted in ‘Timber Oolong’ to add warmth to the space.
To maintain safe movement of residents in and out of their apartments, ‘Wet Paint’ A-frame signs were placed throughout the work areas, with barricades erected around the mobile scaffolding used to access high areas and timber sash windows in the foyer.
Residents were very impressed with the contemporary colour upgrade and appreciated the way the new colours blended seamlessly with the existing architecture. Equally importantly, the building manager reported that there was minimal damage when one of the residents moved furniture out and a new tenant moved in. The residents have been particularly pleased with the long-lasting finish of the walls and timber work
