Safety on the Job

The safety standards of IRATA (the International Rope Access Trade Association) are followed to ensure a hazard-free operation. We use best practice techniques to ensure that our safety measures are impeccable and our staff participate in regular training to maintain these standards.

Cost of abseiling painting

Given the low set-up for Rope Access. It can be a very cost-effective method over alternative access methods.

When to use rope access above other methods

Rope access is not always the most optimal choice for all tasks, however it does offer a lot of advantages. Compared to more traditional access methods, such as the use of scaffolding, Rope Access can be cost-effective, fast set-up, and non-evasive. It is perfect for high density, built environments where space is limited and public safety has a high-risk factor.

Rope Access, Abseiling Painting Case Study

St Vincent's Clinic
st-vincents-hospital-repainting-exterior

This project required rope access painters to prepare and repaint the exterior surfaces of St Vincent’s Clinic in Darlinghurst. It also included the interior of seven levels of common areas and four levels of parking/garage areas, and seven exterior levels with twenty-one balconies in total. The scope of works included walls, ceilings, fire staircases, toilets, doors, frames, exterior facade, lift doors,  balcony soffits, metal railings, spalling repairs, colourbond sheeting structure, steel structure holding screens, aluminium windows, timber service doors and epoxy floor coating around the car park lifts. The painting system used was Dulux.

The challenges for this project included special conditions and a limited timeframe to work on the MRI room, only night and weekend work was permitted for the interiors, with all areas cleaned, free from equipment and ready for normal hospital operations at 8am each morning. Other challenges included the logistics and safety coordination to allow for the exterior to be refurbished and repainted by our rope access painters.
