3 Colours was commissioned to restore and recoat the timber façade at Stockland’s Cammeray Square retail and residential complex — a high-traffic development located near the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Over time, the building’s distinctive façade had suffered significant weathering due to constant exposure to the elements, diminishing the aesthetic appeal of this prominent property.
The project involved sanding back all external timber surfaces to remove the deteriorated polyurethane varnish before applying new finishing coats of high-quality decking stain. The objective was to rejuvenate the timber’s appearance while ensuring long-term protection from UV and moisture exposure.
Working within an active retail and residential environment required careful planning to maintain access and minimise disruption.
Retail tenants remained fully operational throughout, with noise and dust controlled through staged works.
Overhead hoarding and scaffolding were installed to ensure public safety in pedestrian areas.
Scaffolding supports were positioned to avoid obstructing retail signage, and banners were displayed to communicate that it was “business as usual.”
The project was completed within four weeks, including setup and dismantling of access equipment. The restored façade successfully revived the building’s visual identity, reinstating the warmth and character of the natural timber while meeting Stockland’s strict safety and quality standards.
