Pyrmont Strata Rope Access Repaint

3 Colours was engaged to undertake the exterior repainting of this prominent waterfront building, located within Sydney’s Harbour precinct. The project presented complex access challenges and strict environmental compliance requirements, demanding exceptional planning and execution.

Rope access techniques were used to safely reach all exterior elevations, allowing the team to complete the project efficiently without the need for full scaffolding.

Scope of Works

The works involved extensive surface preparation and repainting, including:

• Steel fascia, eaves, roof purlins, walls, balcony slabs, soffits, and ceilings
• Downpipes, PVC piping, rendered walls, and all brickwork
• Application of an encapsulation method during metal surface preparation to contain filings and debris, ensuring full compliance with environmental authorities
• The project adhered to strict requirements from the Environmental Protection Agency, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, and the City of Sydney Council.

Challenges

This was a technically demanding project requiring safe rope access over multiple storeys and precise containment measures during surface preparation. Meeting environmental and regulatory standards while maintaining efficiency required strong coordination and specialised expertise.
