Art Deco Repaint Bondi

3 Colours was engaged to repaint and restore this beautiful retro-style building along Campbell Parade in Bondi. Positioned just metres from the coastline, the property faces constant exposure to salt spray, wind, and UV, demanding a robust paint system and precise surface preparation.

Scope of Works

The repaint encompassed both exterior and interior areas, including:

• Staircases, ceilings, cornices, unit doors, frames, stringers, and walls
• Windows, fire doors, and garage timber doors
• Balcony soffits, render surfaces, retaining walls, and façades
• Application of an anti-graffiti coating on exterior walls for added protection
• Use of a high-build acrylic membrane designed to resist salt, moisture, and weathering

Challenges

The project required careful coordination with multiple trades, including renderers, carpenters, and plumbers working simultaneously on the building. In addition, access was limited, and the coastal environment required constant surface protection and adherence to strict safety procedures.

Outcome

The result is a striking, revitalised façade that respects the building’s original character while providing superior resistance to Bondi’s harsh coastal climate. The high-build acrylic membrane ensures long-term protection and colour retention, preserving the structure’s bright and clean aesthetic for years to come.
