Strata Repainting Sydney Harbourfront

3 Colours was engaged by the strata committee to carry out comprehensive remedial and repainting works to this waterfront building. Situated directly on the harbour, the property had sustained significant exposure-related damage from salt air and moisture, leading to corrosion, peeling coatings, and general surface deterioration.

Before repainting, 3 Colours performed extensive repairs to restore the building’s structural integrity and prepare all surfaces for long-term protection. The project was completed over 12 weeks with careful coordination to minimise disruption for residents.

Scope of Works

• Full repaint of common areas and the external façade
• Repair of rusted and salt-damaged surfaces
• Replacement of rotted timber pergolas and lattice panels
• Surface washing, removal of flaking paint, and sealing of bare substrates
• Application of hydro epoxy waterproof membrane to damaged retaining walls and the entrance area
• Moisture protection using sealant around windows, entry points, and the water fountain
• Painting of soffits, columns, balcony areas, retaining walls, gates, boundary walls, staircases, and car park entrance
• Colour consultancy provided to assist the committee in selecting a modern, durable palette

Challenges

The building’s harbourfront position exposed it to constant wind, salt spray, and UV radiation, requiring specialist coatings and preparation. Working in tight access areas also demanded flexible staging and attention to environmental safety.

Outcome

The project delivered a complete transformation—restoring the façade’s appearance while protecting it from future water ingress and corrosion. The use of waterproof membranes, high-performance coatings, and moisture barriers ensured the building is now both visually renewed and structurally protected against harsh coastal conditions.
